Faux Door

This faux door is the magical gateway to Ben’s bedroom. Painted in Burlington, the mural wasn’t complete without his own personalized address plaque.

The inspiration

Jeff wanted to give his son, Ben, a magical entrance into his bedroom when they moved into their new home.

The mural

I painted Ben’s bedroom door to look like the front door of a rustic (yet magical) cottage in the middle of a forest.

After showing me his fave books, I designed a door knocker inspired by Oliver Jeffers’ characters.

His dad is a huge Van Halen fan, so I painted an address plaque for the wall mural on Ben Boulevard. The “house number” is 5150, which is the name of Van Halen’s seventh album.

The mural was finished with a mail slot and a planter full of shrubs.
